Short & Sweet - Triplets of short stories
Sweet, Sad, Silly & Serious From the minds of an eclectic group of writers comes a unique collection of food-themed short stories. These triplets of interlinked stories offer a short story menu of Appetizers, Mains, Desserts... fiction and non-fiction. From delicious hints of drama... to nibbles of tragedy, murder and mystery... and dollops of love and smiles. Stories about the joys and sorrows of passing time, the silliness of things going wrong, the serious science of the sea, and the surreal of the imagination. As an extra treat, the recipes featured in the stories – and tested in the kitchens of our collected authors (yum) – are included for you at the end. |
"Doors are a gateway into another space or world. Sometimes they present opportunities, other times barriers, in some cases they’re forbidden.
Forbidden Doors is the perfect theme for this genre fiction anthology – a collection of fantasy, sci-fi, romance, crime, historical fiction and supernatural short stories from established and emerging Australian authors." lorikeetink.com/forbidden-doors-an-anthology/ "A woman looking for a fresh start in the country knocks on her neighbour’s door and uncovers a hostage situation. “ From sci-fi and fantasy to romance and crime - and everything in between - Lighthouse features exciting voices from emerging and established Australian writers. ” |
“The Lighthouse anthology was conceived at a Queensland Writers Centre event for genre fiction, GenreCon in 2019. The intrepid souls, who joked over a concept at dinner, found the idea had taken root overnight.
So 15 writers from different genres accepted the invitation to write a short story around the theme of Lighthouses. From concept to actual published book took up most of 2020, a very challenging year in so many other ways. Hopefully you'll enjoy my small contribution, along with paranormal, science fiction, romance and historical stories.” Historical Romance & Magic Realism short story
"A Gift to the Sentinel" by KA Lyonns "Forged by storm and lonely watch, the bond of Lighthouse and Keeper is steadfast. |
"I am hopelessly biased towards horror and sci-fi, so my favourite stories in this anthology are “Alice” by Carleton Chinner, “In the Dark” by Sophie Evans, “The Sound the Sea Makes” by Alyssa Mackay” and “Bereft of Morna” by Brooke Maggs. I also like “Jezebel” by Lane Thornton, a story that is both scary and infuriating. But, to me, the special treats are “A Gift to the Sentinel” by Kelly Lyonns and “Light the Way Home” by Sharyn Swanepoel. While I enjoy the former’s loving tenderness, the latter is smooth as silk and highly satisfying." Christine Sun Goodreads |
"How many writers does it take to screw in a huge lighthouse lamp? Apparently, it’s 15." |
